Meet Kelli & Kevin Payne

Meet Kelli & Kevin Payne

Almost 14 years ago, Kelli had a thought that Burns Lake would make a great location for an antique store. In 2006, she set out to create a welcoming space for both locals and travelers alike. “It’s a great stop for a road break,” says Kelli. “People from Prince George to Prince Rupert are frequent shoppers here.”

Owning Homeside Antiques allows Kelli and her husband Kevin the opportunity to connect with customers on a different level. They go that extra mile to really welcome their patrons.
“It’s all about the people and the service we offer,” says Kelli.

Kelli appreciates small Northern towns like Burns Lake for their proximity to nature but admits that what makes her town extra special are its people. “I love that the outdoor activities are endless here, there are lots of lakes, tons of camping and great fishing but it’s really the people I love. Everyone has caring attitudes and we all stick together to create a great place to live. One of my favourite places in our community is Yarn & Sew On, it always filled with colorful stock and happy workers!”

These partners are true creators and even their spare time is spent constructing and reviving different objects. Kevin will revitalize old wagons, gas station memorabilia and anything else that he can get his hands on while Kelli restores furniture and makes homemade rugs.

Kelli feels that recently people in town are really making an extra effort to shop local more often. The continued support of residents is a critical aspect of small businesses' success.
“We need to keep educating the community on how important it is to shop locally,” she explains.
